Marketing Minutes: When is the Best Time to Share?

According to leading social media studies that have come out in the last six months, there are definitely better times to share content with your customers than others.

A social media study by Argyle Social breaks down the numbers to compare B2B vs. B2C data. B2B marketers should arrange their Tweet scheduling in advance, concentrating on weekdays. For B2C content, marketers get a whopping 32% higher Facebook engagement on weekends.

Best day of the week to Tweet: Any weekday gives 14% more engagement than weekend.

Best day of the week to post to Facebook: On weekends you get 32% more engagement.

It’s important to keep in mind that the “shelf life” of social media links is only about three hours. According to analytics and URL-shortening service Bit.ly, which is supported by other services and our own data, any link you share on Facebook and Twitter will be mostly irrelevant after three hours, with most engagement occurring within the first 60 minutes. This means frequency of posting is more important than focusing on which times to post. And of course making that content high quality is the most important factor of all – otherwise nobody will want to engage with it in the first place.
